How WordSearch.gg handles data.

Summary

WordSearch.gg is a free puzzle game. You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.

Stored on your device

The game saves a few things in your browser's local storage so it can remember them between visits: your progress on the daily puzzle and on your current Unlimited puzzle, your settings (dark mode and timer), whether you have already been counted in today's player count, and the star rating you gave, if any. This data never leaves your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Player count and ratings

When you finish your first puzzle of the day in a language, the game adds one to an anonymous daily counter for that language. When you rate the game, it adds one to the counter for that star value. These counters are hosted by the free Abacus counting service (abacus.jasoncameron.dev). Only the counter is increased: no identifier, account or game content is sent with it, although, like any web request, the service can see your IP address and browser type.

Analytics and hosting

We use privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics to count page views and see which pages are popular. Our hosting and content delivery providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and to keep the site running.

Fonts and images

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and flag images from flagcdn.com. Your browser contacts these services directly when it loads them.

Children

WordSearch.gg is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
